“French Islands” is a directory of places to stay, sights and tours on eight French islands. We do not sell stays or tours, but some links are affiliate links and a booking may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you: the site helps you choose, and booking happens on external platforms.
Places to stay. 2506 places to stay come from OpenStreetMap: name, type, coordinates and — where mappers filled them in — stars (256), amenities (646), address, phone and website. The list is incomplete and may lag behind reality.
Distance to the beach is calculated for 2444 properties: as the crow flies, from the property's point to the nearest beach on the OpenStreetMap map. Distance to the airport is also measured as the crow flies, to the island's main airports.
The directory order (“most complete listings”) reflects how much information is available (stars, website, amenities, photo). It is neither a quality rating nor advertising. There is no paid placement.
Prices and reviews: we do not collect them. The “Prices on Trip.com” link opens a search for the property.
Sights (120) are described by our editors; figures, opening hours and swimming rules are a rough guide — check official sources.
Tours (67) are types of tours, not specific offers: duration and season are a rough guide, prices and schedules are on the platforms.
Photos come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences; authors are credited under the images and in the full list. We do not use hotel photos from Booking, Google or the properties' own websites: they are protected by copyright. On an accommodation listing, “nearby” means the photo was taken close to the property; “area” means it shows the surroundings.
