Climate
Dry and flat.

A round, flat island south of Grande-Terre, known as the “island of a hundred windmills” — the remains of sugar mills stand all over the fields. Three distilleries make rum here (Bielle, Bellevue, Père Labat), and the beaches of Petite Anse, La Feuillère and Vieux-Fort are almost empty.

The ferry from Pointe-à-Pitre takes about an hour; on the island you need a rental car or a scooter.

Highlights: Rum distilleries · La Feuillère beach · Windmills and the Murat estate · Gueule Grand Gouffre.
